Having just planted out flower seeds late Saturday night I was surprised to have Bryant come into my room this morning and tell me that some of the seeds have sprouted into baby plants. At this point the plants only had less than 48 hours under grow lights. Tony, of course, always doing things big and in full force starts this project with more than an adequate set-up. Although chunky brand soup cans make up part of the main structure two 48″ fluorescent strip lights going for the last 48 hours probably had something to do with the early sprouting. No 7-10 days here. All together I counted 26 little green sprouts, quite amazing.
Bryant being a young and exuberant learner wanted to do things in a specific way because he learned this in school afterall. He kept wanting a spray bottle because in school they could spray there plants with a little bit of water everyday. He was a little more excited when the greenhouse did the watering work for him, although I was afraid he would get bored without the daily gratification of being able to water his plant.
Bryant on his own decided that he needed a notebook or something to track what the plants were doing everyday. We worked out for him to write this on his dry erase wall calendar that he got from his grandma Patti. I wrote on there day one, day two, day three ect… although he wanted to do this I was afraid there would be no room left for him to say what was going on with the plant. I got another surprise yesturday morning when he was drawing pictures on his calendar of what his plants looked everyday. He has decided that every morning he will be drawing a little picture on his calendar of what his seeds are doing. Quite a good student here, continuing his learning at home, can’t say I was doing the same for much of my schooling. I love to see my child learn!
