Ball pit, sand pit, parachute fun, make-believe, story telling, presents, cake, treats, and more! At Tumbling Tykes in Waukesha, 12 three-year-olds gathered for a birthday party for my outrageously cute and lovable neice Melissa Patten!
Almost all the kids had a great time with the party host, Miss Deanna, whose energy level was amazing. She really has a gift for keep a big group of kids with really short attention spans entertained and involved, not to mention getting all the kids and parents to play together too!
Tumbling Tykes is in actually in Brookfield, for more information, see their web site: http://www.tumblingtykes.com
My sister Teri, Melissa’s mom, asked me to be the videographer, and I obliged. The whole party was so fast-paced that I could barely keep up, and all I was doing was standing behind a video camera! I tried to grab some pics too, but it was too hard to juggle the still camera and video camera at the same time.
My boys were also invited, but there was nobody there close to their age, so they felt a bit out of place. Miss Deanna tried hard to involve them but they revolted anyways, and then when they decided to get a little physical with each other, they both got kicked out by Hillery! So I handed the video camera to my dad so I could go be a dad and sit in the car with my boys, waiting for the party to end, in boring silence.
The following night, we made monkey bread! A simple recipe involving cans of biscuit dough, dipped in a mix of sugar and ground cinnamon, and then poured over with a mix of heated brown sugar and butter, and baked for a while! A very sweet, fatty, heart-attack-in-each-bite dessert, and oh-so-tasty! After eating a big bunch of Moneky Bread, the boys and I all slept *very* well.
